International Scale of River Difficulty
The International Scale of River Difficulty is a standardized scale used to rate the safety of a stretch of river, or a single rapid. The grade reflects the technical difficulty, skill level required and danger associated with the section of river.
Classification
There are six levels each referred to as "Grade" or "Class" and then a number. The scale is not linear, nor is it fixed. For instance, there can be hard grade twos, easy grade threes, and so on. The grade of a river may change with the level of flow. Often a river or rapid will be given a numerical grade, and then a plus (+) or minus (-) to indicate if it is in the higher or lower end of the difficulty level.
Also note that while a river section may be given an overall grading, it may contain sections above that grade, often noted as features, or conversely, it may contain sections of lower graded water as well. Details of portages may be given if these pose specific challenges.
Class I: Easy.
Waves small; passages clear; no serious obstacles.
Class II: Medium.
Rapids of moderate difficulty with passages clear. Requires experience plus suitable outfit and boat.
Class III: Difficult.
Waves numerous, high, irregular; rocks; eddies; rapids with passages clear though narrow, requiring expertise in manoeuvring; scouting usually needed. Requires good operator and boat.
Class IV: Very difficult.
Long rapids; waves high, irregular; dangerous rocks; boiling eddies; best passages difficult to scout; scouting mandatory first time; powerful and precise manoeuvring required. Demands expert boatman and excellent boat and good quality equipment.
Class V: Extremely difficult.
Exceedingly difficult, long and violent rapids, following each other almost without interruption; riverbed extremely obstructed; big drops; violent current; very steep gradient; close study essential but often difficult. Requires best person, boat, and outfit suited to the situation. All possible precautions must be taken.
Class VI (or U) Unrunnable.
Specific location/national classifications

Safety and Equipment on Rafting
The equipment and the safety guides for rafting
On every rafting trip, safety is our top priority. We employ international guides to ensure that international safety standards are met on every trip. The wetsuits are designed to keep you warm and your life jacket will keep you afloat even if you cannot swim well. You will be asked to wear a helmet on all river trips.
Lifejacket
They are coastguard approved jackets and helps one stay afloat for a good deal of time and it also helps the non swimmers to try a hand at swimming.
our life jackets are rated to work for persons not heavier than 120K.g. and chest size no larger than 52 inches. Please check with our office if you have questions about medical or physical concerns.
Water Sports Helmet
The Water Sports Helmet is a visor helmet for all water sports - white water, kayaking, canoeing, , kite boarding. These are tested and engineered to meet the CE 1385 helmet standards for water sports. Brock Foam offers multi-impact performance, porosity and breathability and 3D airflow. Air and moisture circulate in any direction without the risk of absorbtion. Brock Foam is also very resilient and returns to its original shape after impact thereby offering protection to multiple impacts.
Economy Paddle
This inexpensive, lightweight, sturdy paddle is great for rafting and canoeing. It features a 7.75" x 20.5" polypropylene blade and a 1" diameter aluminum shaft. A T-grip handle and 8" gripping area to complete the package.
The industry standard! This 1-1/8" aluminum shaft extends well into the blade for added strength and is covered with polyethylene to provide a warm, secure grip. The 8" x 20" moulded blade uses super-strong polypropylene for a powerful yet lightweight paddle.
